What are these maps?
While designed as beautiful wall art, our star maps are also extremely scientifically accurate. By using math, science, and high-precision data, we compute the precise positions of the stars over any specific location on Earth at any given time.
What products do you offer?
We offer physical posters, framed posters, and digital file downloads.
How much is a star map?
- Our pricing depends on the size and format you choose:

Note: You can also add a digital download to a physical order for an additional $15.00.
Do you print on Canvas?
No. We offer standard posters, framed posters, and digital downloads, but canvas prints are not currently available.
How do I order?
You can customize your map using our creation and editing pages, which allow you to see the map updating in real-time as you make your adjustments. Simply select your preferred format—like the Framed option—directly on the product page when customizing your order.
What sizes are your prints?
We offer our physical prints in 12x18 and 18x24 sizes.
Are there restrictions on custom text or language? What happens if inappropriate content is submitted?
Yes. To maintain a respectful environment and comply with our site policies, we do not allow custom text, titles, or messages that contain libelous, unlawful, abusive, obscene, or hateful content, including text that harasses, defames, or discriminates against individuals or groups. Starmap Creations reserves the right to review, refuse, or cancel any order containing inappropriate or prohibited text, or request that the phrasing be modified before printing.

Is the star map accurate?
Yes, absolutely! We use astronomical software and high-precision star catalogs to recreate the sky exactly as it appeared at your specific time and location.
How do you know where the stars were or will be?
Astronomers have carefully studied and measured the exact positions of the stars and the year-long orbit of the Earth around the sun. Using math and science, it is entirely possible to compute precisely what stars will be above any location on Earth at any given time.
Where does your star data come from?
Our star catalog comes from the European Space Agency's Hipparcos mission. This is a high-precision catalog generated from over three years of rigorous observations by the Hipparcos space-based telescope. We use this exact data to render the precise positions of the stars for your chosen date and location.
How detailed are the maps?
Our maps render stars all the way up to magnitude 5.5, which represents the visible stars you can see with the naked eye under dark skies. You can choose to show or hide constellation lines, planet names, and the celestial grid to match your style.
Can you show the sky during the daytime?
Yes! Even if your event happened at noon, the stars were still there. We map the precise cosmic alignment regardless of the sun’s position.
What if I don’t have the exact time?
No problem! If the time is unknown, we default to 12:00 PM for that date to ensure a beautiful, star-filled sky.
Can I verify the accuracy before I order?
Yes, we encourage it! You can compare the custom map you create on our site with any open-source planetarium software (such as Stellarium.org) before placing your order.
Shipping, Lead Times & Deliveries
What is the lead time for fulfillment and shipping?
Our custom fulfillment processing time takes 4 to 7 business days to render, print, and assemble your star map. Once dispatched, shipping transit times can take between 4 to 29 business days depending on your location and regional carrier routing.
Do you ship to my country?
We currently only ship within the US.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is included with all orders.
My tracking says "Delivered," but I can't find my package. What should I do?
Because we rely on the carrier's official delivery confirmation, we unfortunately cannot cover the cost of a free replacement or refund in these specific cases. Before losing hope, we recommend:
- Checking around your property (porches, back doors, behind bushes/furniture).
- Checking with neighbors, housemates, or front desk staff.
- Contacting the last-mile postal carrier directly for delivery notes.
What if my package gets lost in transit?
If tracking has stopped updating past your delivery window, report the missing shipment to us within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. Once the carrier confirms it is lost, we cover 100% of the costs to reprint and reship your map.
Can I change my shipping address after placing an order?
If your order hasn’t shipped yet, contact us immediately to update it. Once an order has shipped, we cannot change the address.
What happens if my order is "Returned to Sender"?
If returned due to an incorrect address, unclaimed status, or refusal, we will notify you via email (returns take carriers 2–4 weeks). We hold items for 30 days. Additional shipping charges apply to reship returned items. Unclaimed items past 30 days are donated to charity.
Returns, Damaged Items & Guarantees
What is your Returns Policy?
Because every single product is custom-made and printed specifically for you, we do not offer returns or exchanges for change of mind, wrong size choices, or ordering errors.
What happens if my order arrives damaged or has a quality issue?
If your map arrives damaged, misprinted, or defective, we take full responsibility and will arrange a free reprint or refund at no cost to you. You do not need to mail the damaged item back. Please contact us using our support form.
How do I submit a damaged item claim?
Contact us via our Damaged Product form within 15 days of receiving your item. You must provide your order number, a short description, and a clear, full photo showing the entire damaged product.
Why can’t certain items be reshipped?
Our products are custom made based on a specific date & time and custom message. It would be impossible to resell these products.

Do you offer frames?

What are the frame specifications?
Our frames are crafted from high-quality, sustainable Ayous wood sourced from renewable forests with a sleek .75″ (1.9 cm) profile. They feature a premium, lightweight Acrylite front protector instead of glass.
Does hanging hardware come with the frame?
Yes, hanging hardware is included with every framed order.
What paper and print quality do you use?
Prints are rendered on heavy, durable museum-quality matte paper (thickness: 10.3 mil / 0.26 mm, weight: 189 g/m²) using an advanced multicolor, water-based inkjet printing technique.
Can I buy the print without a frame and frame it locally?
Yes! We offer standard, unframed posters so you can frame them however you like.
What colors are your frames?
We offer 3 frame options: White, Black, and light oak.
Digital Downloads
Can I download the map and print it on my own?
Yes! We offer an instant digital download option. A high-resolution file is sent immediately to your inbox after checkout.
How long are digital download links retained and active?
Digital files and access links are retained in our active system for 30 days following your purchase. We recommend saving the file immediately. Digital files are strictly non-refundable.
What should I do if my digital download link expires?
If your link expires or you lose access, contact us through our support form, with your Order Number and purchase email. As long as it is within the retention window or aligns with purchase records, our team can regenerate and resend the link.
